It’s ALL ABOUT What You Believe About What’s Going On.

YOU ARE DEAD
Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
– Colossians 3:2-3
Before I came through addiction, the number of things I could “handle” before I slowly felt myself unraveling was pretty limited:
Stressful deadline? I should have a drink.
Unreasonable employer? A Vicodin will take the edge off.
Bills piling up? A Xanax will be good for that.
To be fair, this behavior had been modeled in front of me for years and although I was a Christian and knew there was a better way, it just seemed easier to reach for a little “help.”
What harm was there in it?
Well, for me…the harm was in the fact that drugs and alcohol did NOT effectively put my life on hold for a minute while I “regrouped.” Life continued, as it tends to do, except I eventually became a spectator, someone on the sidelines who was “trying to deal” instead of someone who was positive, confident and in control.
I was missing the moments.
I became this helpless, hopeless version of myself.
Today I woke up and realized there’s nothing different about me except my mindset and the amount of truth I walk in today.
There’s still a lot on my plate.
There are still deadlines to meet and people who don’t behave in my life.
But I look at it differently.
Coming through addiction and standing on the other side with Jesus has taught me NEVER to focus on the problem itself because whatever we give attention to will expand in our life.
My focus is on the Solution…(which is Jesus)
The outside world and distractions will always press on us and try to tell us a story. But the Word says we are “dead men walking.” Dead to sin. Dead to this world and alive to Christ.
So, whatever you are walking through today, you don’t have to come from the mindset of “trying to deal.”
You are walking through this to show others the way, to be an encourager, to be a light, to show up with joy and expect God’s promises to manifest in your life.
It’s really not about what’s going on in your life right now.
It’s ALL ABOUT what you believe about what’s going on.
It’s time to change the way you see.
It’s time to die to the things pressuring you so you can truly live.
“But what if it all falls apart if I’m not worrying about it?”
…You know better.
