Soak Up Relaxation and Rejuvenation at David Walley’s Hot Springs in Carson Valley, Nevada
David Walley’s Hot Springs is one of our favorite endings to a rejuvenating weekend in the majestic Carson Valley of Nevada. After a long and lingering weekend vacation of fun in the Autumn sun, it always gives us the chance to relax and unwind before the three hour drive home to Northern California.
Upon arrival, they furnish us with our towels and locker keys. The locker rooms are modern, comfortable, and spacious. Sometimes the floors are a bit wet and unclean, so I would highly recommend bringing your own flip flops for everyone in your group to avoid possibly picking up a nasty case of athlete’s foot or plantar’s warts (yuck).
We enjoy the various temperatures of the half dozen mineral soaking pools outside. Mark Twain did, too, and he even claimed these hot springs cured him of his ailments in 1887!
The fresh water relaxation and swimming pool is minimally chlorinated, which I particularly like since I am a bit of a purist. We are always mesmerized by the majestic views of the high desert, cliffs, mountains and valley during our indulging soaks from tub to tub in the cool and crisp mountain air.
Making Friends While Soaking in the Hot Springs
We usually find numerous friendly folks to chat with, including local couples and families. Our visits seem to be a good mix of locals and tourists alike. All ages, including young families and retired visitors mingle well as they relax and converse in the varied tubs. All the tubs range in temperature and the maintenance crew checks them often as they seemed to fluctuate by about ten degrees even during our longer three-hour or more soakings.
For us, David Walley’s Hot Springs provides the perfect relaxing cap to our wonderful autumn weekends in Carson Valley in Nevada, and that always makes the pilgrimage home all the more pleasant.
